Cuara Peso Dain. Photographic installation.

I’ve been away, long, long time doing A LOT of things. But well, I love it ūüôā

Last friday I was honored to put a photographic installation  with other photographers.

I find it weird for people to call me photographer, I barely know how to work the manual setting of my semi-professional camera, that’s why I was so honored to be surrounded by real photographers with different styles and talent.

The model for my pictures was my grandfather. Needless to say, he is pretty much to awesome to handle and I fucking love it and him.

These were the pictures I took when I finished my photography course and they were sitting still in my computer until the girls that organized the exhibition called me.

I took my grandpa, of course, and he wore every piece of his garment. He was so happy and excited I think I shed a tear or two during the night.

I’ve been doing so many fun stuffs lately, I can’t even catch a break, but I love it!

PS. All the pictures are for sale in an online auction. In case you want to check them out and check the other photographers.

Life Line

Finally I have a little time to drain my mind and just put everything into writing. The truth is, I’m always tired when I get home and well.. you know the sad story about regular working 8-5 people. It kinda sucks..

Anyway, I got a TATTOO. Finally after years of¬†planning¬†and designing I did it. I just thought it was a time of my life I’d like to remember, even though it does not portray an actual event, I just wanted to get tattooed at this moment.

I call it, Life Line, because these 3 elements more than “metaphorically”, they make my heart beat literally.

Before the ink!

aaaaand, its done.

Ode to a Night Time Romance

(4:15 am)

Every night you give me thoughts, but all those thoughts come with a price,

insanity is the price, and I keep trying to figure out whether to embrace it or not.

You take my night dreams and replace with words and creations,

you take my sane behaviour and replace it with odd thoughts and big eyes;

those eyes that you use during the day when my mind is calm but my body is aching.

You just sit back in a corner of my brain and wait for dawn, like a vampire;

you suck my mind’s blood every night and turns me into everything and nothing.

You seduce me as soon as the sunlight burns out

and then I follow and become into anything you want.

You seduce me with your charm and wisdom

and, I can’t help it, I’m in no control and I don’t want to.

I just let myself go, like a mistress, like a muse;

you give me thoughts and I surrender completely and shameless.

Sometimes I want to stop, I want you to stop

but what you give me is so welcoming and seductive,

so beautiful, so me.

I wish I could never end this,

but the jealous sun comes up and the morning talks through the birds’ song.

And then, I face reality

you are not real, not from this world, or any world.

You are me; becoming, creating, crafting, thinking,

being the person I want to be when the light comes up.

You are me and I’m terrified,

the morning light freezes me and then,

all I want it is to be night time

where I can be seduce by my own

lascivious, lustful mind.

Summer Fairs! 1

I have been taking full advantage of summer and I’ve went to almost every free or nearly free fair in the city.

The first one is the Afro Antillean Fair, or Afro Panamanian, which celebrates the Panamanians that are African descendants. The Afro Antillean, specifically, are the ones that were brought from the islands in the Caribbean to work in the construction of the Panama Canal and bla bla bla :). Here are some pics..

Tattoos to go!

I love tattoos. When a person has one, especially a beautiful one, I can stare them for ages. Or if it is a really ugly one then I would just stare and ask in my mind; why the fuck did you get that permanently in your body?????!!

Either way, tattoos fascinate me. If a guy has a tattoo, it just makes him a 1000 times more attractive for me.

In case you are wondering, YES, I would love to have a tattoo but I’m looking for a really original design (I think I have it, finally).. so now all I need to do is collect money and get my ass kicked by my mom and dad ūüėÄ

Here are some of the most amazing travel tattoos I’ve seen on the internet

BTW if any of you have one, share it!!. A great tattoo is a piece of art that the world should see.

Only an open heart allows you to float freely across the universe

The world is divided into two kinds of people:  those who have tattoos, and those who are afraid of people with tattoos.

One of my favourites

She flies with her own wings

My body is a journal in a way.¬† It’s like what sailors used to do, where every tattoo meant something, a specific time in your life when you make a mark on yourself, whether you do it yourself with a knife or with a professional tattoo artist.¬†

~Johnny Depp~

When the designs are chosen with care, tattoos have a power and magic all their own.  They decorate the body but they also enhance the soul.

~Michelle Delio~

Not one great country can be named, from the polar regions in the north to New Zealand in the south, in which the aborigines do not tattoo themselves.

~Charles Darwin, The Descent of Man~

Your body is a temple, but how long can you live in the same house before you redecorate?

~Author Unknown~

Beauty is skin deep.  A tattoo goes all the way to the bone.

~Vince Hemingson~

This last two are my personal favourite. I’ll try to incorporate them both in a single tattoo

Eye of Horus; means protection and healing

You may lose your most valuable property through misfortune in various ways.  You may lose your house, your wife and other treasures.  But of your moko, you cannot be deprived except by death.  It will be your ornament and companion until your last day.  ~Netana Whakaari of Waimana~
